All the gear, no idea? Meet Buffet’s Strategic Ideation service
A small but mighty service for small but mighty businesses, empowering you with 10 creative recommendations to execute in-house — direct from the Buffet Brain’s Trust.

After six years in showbiz, the size and complexity of clients we’re now working with at Buffet has grown, and we love it. We’re running the creative on expansive national brand campaigns and producing content to be shown on cinema screens and billboards(!). We have a seat at the big kids’ table. But when we launched Buffet in 2017, one of our main goals was to work with small businesses, giving them the tools, knowledge and content to build their own audiences and brand hype, without having to rely solely on media to do that for them.

It’s been one of our greatest joys to have worked alongside independent restaurants as they’ve grown into game-changing hospitality groups, but what about the fresh cohorts coming through (or longer-standing brands and businesses who want to stay small, by design)? With this goal still at the forefront of our minds, especially “in this economy!”, we set out to create a new, streamlined strategy product to run alongside our flagship packages.

At this point, we bet you’re wondering…what exactly IS Strategic Ideation? In a nutshell, it’s short and sharp guidance on content best practices and creative ideas, which the Buffet Brains Trust will then package into 10 actions to execute in-house. All in the space of two weeks!

Here’s how it’ll go down…

Step one — The Consult

As with anything strategic, there is no point shooting in the dark; a great creative idea only throws as much weight as the *big picture* objective behind it. After we’ve dug deep into your feed/eDM newsletter/website journal/TikTok, the first major step on this journey is the consult, but we like to think of it more as a collaborative brainstorm. Over an hour, we’ll dig into all areas of your business with your team to nut out where you want to go in the near and distant future, what really needs pushing, as well as what is and isn’t working within your current content output. It helps us define the 10 areas we’ll focus on in the delivered document.

Step two — 10 actions

After our pow-wow, we’ll head back to our kitchens (desks) and throw all of those pain points and ideas into a big pot (a nice, shiny deck). Out the other end come 10 actionable ideas — maybe an editorial content series and topline launch concepts for a new product — as well as the foundational stuff, i.e. goal setting, tips for different platforms, the best times to post, what to post and how often.

Step three — 1800-ongoing support

Congrats! You’ve plunged into the weeds and emerged with 10 creative actions! At this point, you’ll head off to turn these ideas into content gold. If you still need a hand, we’re here for you in the following ways:

  • Photo or video shoots and design support to help bring one or more of those ideas to life.
  • As-needed hourly consulting sessions to check in with your content team, review your content output, and keep generating fresh ideas.
  • iPhone photo and videography workshops that’ll show you how to shoot, light, style, grade and edit with that smartphone in your pocket.

Hungry for more?

Our full content strategy product delves fully into market research, tone of voice, your brand values, detailed content pillars, design templates and content art direction. It can cover social media, online editorial, eDM, a launch campaign or all of the above.

Basically, it’s the full package as deep as the Mariana Trench, and if that’s what you’re after, get in touch — we’re here to chat.

Buffet offers two Strategic Ideation packages as a pro-bono offering per year to businesses who lead with a charitable mission. If this is something you’d like to discuss with us, please get in touch to discuss!
